Why do you practice yoga?
I practice yoga to reach the still center within. I begin each morning with the practice of pranayama and Transcendental Meditation, and follow it up with the practice of asanas a couple of times a week. And, each day, the practice calms and centers me to walk through my life with grit and grace.
What mantra do you live by? Dare Greatly. Love Deeply. And, Share Your Light.
What’s been your biggest life challenge & how has yoga gotten you through it?
Ever since I was eighteen years old, I have struggled with recurrent bouts of severe depression and suicidal ideation. Over and over again, I have plummeted into the eternal darkness of my mind. Yet, the practice of pranayama, Transcendental Meditation and yoga have led me to discover the light within – a light that leads me on.
What’s #1 on your bucket list at the moment?
I’d love to go to an yoga retreat which integrates nature and nutrition – a place where I can be inspired to deepen my practice.
